Call of Duty: Ghosts has finally been fully unveiled at the Xbox One presentation on May 21st.

The Infinity Ward studio (also the minds behind Call of Duty: Modern Warfare) alongside Raven and Neversoft have developed an all new set of characters, story and environment for Ghosts that runs on a brand new, powerful next generation engine. Players will see vastly improved textures, particle simulations, incredible lighting and smoke effects; the game will also make use of the SubD technology created by Pixar to create smoother textures the closer one is to an object.

According to the new storyline, the US sees itself no longer a superpower after a disastrous event effectively dismantles its government and military forces which causes our main protagonist and his brother join a secret sect of elite soldiers named the Ghosts. Fans of employing guerilla warfare tactics, the new squad includes a dog capable of detecting explosives via smell (but still no female character, of course, sigh).

Motion capture was used on a real life Seal team dog making the gameplay especially realistic in that aspect. Impressively, Oscar-winning storywriter Stephen Gaghan  (Traffic and Syriana) have been drafted to create a story that players will become fully immersed in and emotionally attached to. “We wanted the characters to feel like real people,” says Gaghan.

More details will be released at E3!
