New York City’s Pride March is once again celebrating notable voices of the LGBT community with its choices for this year’s grand marshals.
Leading the march this year are openly gay actor Jonathan Groff, transgender actress and gay rights advocate Laverne Cox, and Rea Carey, Executive Director of the National Gay and Lesbian Task Force.
Pride March Director David Studinski said of the choices: “Individually, they represent the diversity within the LGBT community and the various struggles our community members have and continue to face. Collectively, their stories reinforce that no voice is too small nor weak to make change in our world — and it starts with being yourself.”
The 2014 NYC Pride March will begin at noon on Sunday, June 29th. The march will carry the theme of “We Have Won When We’re One” and commemorate the 45th anniversary of the historic Stonewall riots. To find out more about NYC Pride 2014, visit their website at nycpride.org.
