Why aren’t there more superhero-themed nail polishes? Specifically, why hasn’t OPI released an Avengers-themed nail polish collection?
In 2012, OPI released a Spider-Man-themed collection consisting of six shades. In 2015, Covergirl collaborated with Star Wars and released six looks, each look featuring a nail polish. In the summer of 2016, Orly released a Wonder Woman Beauty Collection, featuring eleven shades of nail polish. The Avengers: Infinity War will be released in 2018, which seems like the perfect opportunity to release an Avengers-themed collection.
What would make this different from other nail polish collections that have entered the superhero realm? Don’t just focus on the women of Marvel. Not that the Black Widow, Captain Marvel and the Scarlet Witch aren’t incredible, bad ass, and worthy of being rocked on your nails — but let’s see shades that represent the rest of the Avengers. Just about the only thing to get me to wear green nail polish would be the Incredible Hulk.
Instagram and Pinterest are filled with countless ideas for superhero nail art. Look at this manicure inspired by The Winter Soldier.

If you’re not skilled enough (like myself) to draw your own nail art, check out Etsy and look for decals or wraps. Or you can just choose a few shades that best represent your favorite superhero and express your creativity. But wouldn’t being able to reach for a bottle of Captain America white just make it that much easier?
Filming for Avengers: Infinity War starts soon, and characters are still being confirmed, but the possibilities for nail polish colors tied into the Marvel Cinematic Universe are endless. If OPI decides to indulge all the nail polish fans who love Marvel, here are some suggestions.
Nail Polish Ideas:
– Metallic/chrome silver to represent The Winter Soldier’s metal arm
– Iron Man red with a gold shimmer
– Hulk green with tiny flecks of purple glitter
– Matte black just as badass as the Black Widow
– Captain America blue with star glitter
– Red with white string glitter (again for Captain America)
– A scarlet red for the Scarlet Witch
– An icy blue to represent the lightning bolts from Thor’s hammer
A lot of the Avengers exist in the same color palette and wear various shades of blues, reds and black. The shade variances are enough to differentiate between Iron Man red from Captain America red. As for black, various textures, finishes or glitters could be used distinguish the Black Widow’s signature black from the Black Panther.
Come on OPI: let’s make this happen!
