Paula Deen is cleaning house! Deen has fired her lead legal team and hired new representation to guide her through these troubled times.

It was announced last week that Deen and her longtime agent had gone their separate ways after the legacy and empire that he helped her build began crumbling.

Deen has chosen Morgan, Lewis & Bockius attorney, Grace Speights to act as lead counsel. She will replace Deen’s former teams from The Oliver Manner law firm and Gillen, Withers and Lake, both based in Savannah, GA. Speights has quite the battle before her as Paula Deen Enterprises Inc. (and others) is being sued for employee discrimination.

Lisa Jackson, a former manager at Uncle Bubba’s Seafood and Oyster House, has filed the suit against Deen, who co-owns the restaurant with her brother. Jackson’s claims range from sexual harassment to hostile work conditions amid innuendo and racial slurs.

Deen admitted to using the N-word while being deposed. Her answer was: “Yes, of course.” Followed by her insistence that “it’s been a very long time.”

The Morgan Lewis website categorizes Speights as specializing in employment discrimination and consulting clients on how to best handle corporate diversity.

Documents were filed Thursday with the Court requesting that all future correspondence go through Morgan Lewis & Bockius, as well as Savannah’s Weiner, Shearhouse, Weitz, Greenberg and Shawe.

EW’s attempts to contact each firm have not yet been returned.
