Acclaimed rapper, actor, producer and entrepreneur Sean “Diddy” Combs is receiving backlash from some Howard University students. The school announced that he will be speaking at an upcoming commencement ceremony and also will be receiving an honorary doctorate degree.
So what’s the problem you ask? Diddy dropped out of that college to pursue his music career.
In 1990, Diddy left the D.C. area-based university to chase his musical dream and subsequently exploded on the scene with the establishment of Bad Boy Records in 1993. While many are supportive of his upcoming visit, there is a negative voice to be heard as well all across the Twittersphere, with one Howard student tweeting:

Diddy, however, is clearly very honored to be in the position he’s been in, describing the situation on his Instagram as one of the few moments he’s ever been speechless, regardless of the negative criticism surrounding him.
What do you think about this situation? Perhaps if students are truly feeling passionate against the rapper, they can rally and boycott the upcoming commencement. Otherwise, this seems to me it might be a little bit of an overrated bark with no bite.
