Rupert Grint Is Fine With Being Mistaken For Ed Sheeran

Rupert Grint is fine with always being mistaken for singer, Ed Sheeran and most of the time he even plays along and actually pretends to be Ed.

Ever since the first Harry Potter film came out, Rupert Grint has emerged as one of the most famous child stars around.

With eight films in what is one of the most financially successful film franchise of all time, we have seen him and his co-stars grow up before our very eyes.

So technically it should be easy for anyone to recognize him when he is walking down the street, right? Well that would be wrong.

During an appearance on the “The Late Late Show with James Corden,” Grint talked candidly about fans mistaking him for singer-songwriter Ed Sheeran.

“It’s kind of 50/50 now” he said “If someone stops me I could go either way. I could be Ed or I could be me.”

For Grint’s part though, he has no ego about it, and in fact is happy to play along. Just like that one time British born singer, Leo Sayer came up to him and thought that he was Sheeran.

He came up to me and said he loved my music, of course, thinking I was Ed,” Grint told host, James Corden, and then he cheekily added “I play along.” But then again the two did play on the similarity when Rupert Grint starred in the music video for Ed Sheeran’s hit single ‘Lego House’.

Ironically at the start of the video, it seems that Grint was supposed to be a stand in for Sheeran. He was dressed to look like him, he even lip syncs the song, and walks casually around a concert venue and tour bus. At one point he even walks on stage in front of a roaring crowd- that is until security takes him down.

In the end the actual Ed Sheeran makes an appearance, and we realize that Rupert Grint was an obsessed fan trying to be him. On that note, with Grint pretending to be Sheeran in real life, it seems that life is imitating art. Let us just hope that he does not take it too far just like in the music video.

Stay sane, Ron.
