Get your calendars! Walt Disney Studios recently announced thirteen films slated to be released by the studio giant throughout the year. 

It seems like in the past few years Walt Disney Studios has delivered us some incredible films, including the newly crowned highest grossing film of all time, Star Wars : The Force Awakens. This Midas Touch will likely continue as we push full steam ahead into 2016. New year means new films and Walt Disney Studios has quite the exciting year ahead! They recently announced the 13 films they are slated to release throughout the year. Check ’em out below!

The Finest Hours – January 29

Based on real life heroic story of a Coast Guard rescue mission in 1952, The Finest Hours stars Chris Pine, Holiday Grainger, and Casey Affleck.  The film promises to be an epic cinematic experience that will leave you amazed.

Zootopia – March 4

From the creators of Frozen and Big Hero Six comes the most unexpected buddy cop animated film. In a world without humans, animal society has evolved into an anthropomorphic metropolis where predator and prey co-exist and even team up. Nick Wilde, a sly fox, and Judy Hopps, a rookie rabbit cop, solve mysteries together in this crazy animal filled world.

The Jungle Book – April 15

Following in the successful footsteps of Disney classics turned live action, the beloved characters of The Jungle Book will he hitting the big screen. Starting the vocal talents of Bill Murray, Christopher Walken, Scarlett Johansson, and Lupita Nyong’o, the movie is sure to add a whole new spin on this timeless tale.

Captain America: Civil War – May 6

The third installment of the Captain America series, this all star superhero film sets the stage for the next biggest threat to The Avengers,,, themselves. The government wants to sanction their actions and it is time to pick a side in this next Marvel masterpiece.

Alice: Through the Looking Glass – May 27

Sequel to the Tim Burton live-action film, Alice in Wonderland, Johnny Depp returns as the Mad Hatter in this time traveling adventure that is sure to bring us the same cinematic eye candy just like the first one.

Finding Dory – June 17

Ellen DeGeneres returns as the voice of the forgetful fish, Dory, in this sequel to the Pixar film Finding Nemo. Trailers tell us that for the first time Dory might actually remember something about where she came from taking us into new uncharted adventures.

The BFG – July 1

The Roald Dahl classic children’s novel comes to theaters with famed director Steven Spielberg behind the camera. The story follows the tale of 10-year-old Sophie who meets a Big Friendly Giant.

Pete’s Dragon – August 12

Starring Bryce Dallas Howard, Oakes Fegley, and Wes Bentley, this is another Disney classic brought to life in a new retelling. The story is about a boy and his beloved best friend… a dragon!

Another heart warming and inspiring true story of a young lady in rural Uganda who discovers the game of chess, changing her life forever.

Marvel introduces a new character into it’s cinematic universe with the story of neurosurgeon Stephen Strange played by fan favorite, Benedict Cumberbatch.  This origin story  will surely impact the ever growing Marvel universe as Dr. Strange has the ability to utilize magic.

Moana – November 23

Disney introduces a new Hawaiian princess in this upcoming animated feature. Following the story of a young girl who sets sail to find a fabled island. Featuring the vocal talents of Dwayne Johnson.

Rogue One – December 16

The first of the Star Wars anthology films, this in-between film will tell the story of events that took place leading up to Episode IV: A New Hope. Ever wonder exactly how Princess Leia got a hold of those Death Star plans? Rogue One will bring us this side story to tie us over until Episode 8.

The Light Between Oceans

Based on the novel of the same name, this movie follows the story of an Australian lighthouse keeper and his wife who rescue a baby from an adrift rowboat.
