The Wanted performed the third American date of their Word Of Mouth Tour, and their final New York City show (for now), on Friday, April 11 at Beacon Theater.

Opening acts Cassio Monroe and Midnight Red kicked things off.

I’ve been a fan of Midnight Red since early last year, and they always put on a spectacular show. Joey, Eric, Thomas, Colton, and Anthony are a boyband in every sense–they have the vocals and the jaw-dropping dance moves. The 5-piece opened for The Wanted for the first time last year at Roseland Ballroom in October, another show that I had the privilege of attending.

Midnight Red did ten songs during their set. It included some old favorites like “Body Talks” and their cover of Rihanna’s “Diamonds,” as well as two tracks from their new EP, “Where Did U Go?” and “Nothing Lasts Forever.” They also performed their current single, “Hell Yeah.”

The next act, Cassio Monroe, were new to me, but they definitely have a unique sound. They’re a bit of pop/rock with some rap thrown in. Check out the music video for one of the songs they performed below.

Then it was time for what we’d all been waiting for: the stars of the night.

Amid flashing strobe lights and a mash-up of “Glad You Came” and “I Found You” playing through the speakers, we heard all five members briefly describe just how much the past four years has meant to them. It was a tear-jerker, no doubt about it.

Following the mash-up, their band The Kids played their introduction. That intro eventually led into the first strains of “Gold Forever.”

Jay, Nathan, Siva, Max, and Tom appeared at the top of the steps onstage, lit up by five spotlights with “The Wanted” on the banner behind them.

“Gold Forever” held a special meaning that night, and it was clear that’s how they intended it. Tom, Max, and Nathan sang the first few notes of it like they’ve never done before–holding the notes so that they hung in the air above the screams. It was the most beautiful performance of that song I’ve ever heard.

After that emotional interlude, they launched right into their newest single, “Glow In The Dark.” Of course, they showcased their trademark energy with this one, especially during the dance break. It took our minds off of the hiatus situation for a bit, since we were too busy jumping around just as much as they were.

Every song during their set was on an entirely new level, and this is coming from someone who has seen them perform five times prior to this tour.

Our energy combined with theirs made this an amazing “See you soon” from The Wanted  to their New York City Fanmily.

The set included several songs from Word Of Mouth (my personal favorite, “Running Out Of Reasons,” being one of them). Then, of course, there were the singles we all know and love: “All Time Low,” “Chasing The Sun,” “I Found You,” “Heart Vacancy” (complete with the infamous Heart Vacancy girls onstage), “Lose My Mind,” and “Lightning.”

The tear-jerkers of the night were definitely “Gold Forever,” “Show Me Love,” “Heartbreak Story,” and “Glad You Came.” But even through the tears, we all loved every second.

As they said, this tour is a celebration of the past four years, how far they’ve come, and the relationship that we, the Fanmily, have with our favorite band.

Thank you for an incredible tour, boys.

The tour continues until May, and I highly recommend that you all go and see a show if you can.

Check out a medley they did of some of their earlier songs below.
