Newcomer Shanice Williams has landed the coveted spot of Dorothy in NBC’s live adaptation of ‘The Wiz’!

Shanice was actually discovered in an open call, but she has a lot of experience on the stage to help her with this huge role.

The 18 year old has starred in a local production of ‘West Side Story’, and even went on to be nominated for Best Leading Actress at the Paper Mill Playouse’s Rising Star Awards.

Looking forward to Shanice showing off her impressive pipes, especially during the stirring ‘Home’.

Other notable cast additions (along with previously announced Queen Latifah and Mary J. Blige) include David Alan Grier as the Cowardly Lion, “Orange is the New Black’ star Uzo Aduba as Glinda the Good Witch, and former ‘Glee’ star Amber Riley as Good Witch Addaperle.
