I know, I can barely believe it either. Whether you love it, hate it, or love to hate it, the Sharknado series just keeps on chugging along, leaving dead CGI sharks in its wake. The latest in the sharks vs. chainsaws series currently has no title, but that doesn’t mean we can’t look ahead and see what’s in store for the film.
Director Anthony C. Ferrante will be returning, along with stars Ian Ziering and Tara Reid. As it turns out, the sharks may have their eyes on something a little less American. In fact, the sequel is going to be shot in multiple locations, including Australia and the U.K.
“I want to do international. There are still U.S. cities that I want to destroy. But it’s less about the cities, and it’s more about, what are we going to do with Ian and Tara, and what genres do we want to play with?”
Though there will be returning faces both in front of and behind the camera, there are key players that will not be coming back — most notably Thunder Levin, the screenwriter behind the previous Sharknado movies. Instead, Scotty Mullen is stepping into the landmark-destroying shoes and penning the latest in this wacky series.
There has yet to be an official title, but IMDB does have the latest Sharknado film listed as Sharknado 5 … Earth 0. The original film made its debut in 2013 on SyFy to 1.37 million viewers. The following films earned even more viewers, with a total of close to 3 million worldwide.
The series has gained such a wide fanbase that it has since branched out beyond its TV movie origins, spawning a video game, a mockumentary, and a spin-off series in the form of the Lavalantula films.
