Apparently Victoria Beckham has done something so egregious that she is eliciting the disgust of some people of the social media public. Did she publicly shame a person and make fun of the way they look, a la playmate Dani Mathers? Was she caught being an awful person and treating someone terribly? No, no, no, it’s much worse than that: she kissed her baby girl on the lips!
On July 10, Victoria posted an Instagram photo of herself kissing her daughter, Harper, on her fifth birthday.

Soon after the picture was posted many comments started coming in–and not all of them positive and supportive. Someone was critical of the way Victoria’s head was tilted:
prettylightskin01Its just how she has her head tilted. When I kiss my boyfriend my head is tilted like that…when “I” kiss my kids is straight up. But I don’t kiss my kids on the lips. Whatever floats their boat.
And another was upset because it looked like behavior they would see at a nightclub:

Overall, however, the picture has amassed over 9,000 comments in which almost all are positive. Nice support of a loving and adorable picture between mom and daughter. It’s gratifying to see that for every critical comment there were a hundred positive comments such as these:

Look inward, into your family and what you teach your children. Victoria is expressing love and affection to her daughter on her birthday.feel bad for this of you that teach your children affection is wrong. As a child affection help build self confidence, self love and pragmatic love. Victoria and David seem to have done a fantastic job with their kids… Another thing with all the hate in the world why knock down a mother for kissing her child on her birthday?
melhaus76I kiss my 2 girls all the time. I don’t understand why this is an issue. It almost seems like people want to find something to be upset about. So sad.
Also, in a show of solidarity and support, many people started to post personal pictures of themselves kissing their own kids on the lips.
Victoria has yet to make any statement about the whole brouhaha and it can only be assumed that she will not deign to respond to those who would try to sexualize such a lovely picture of mother and daughter. Which totally seems like a completely intelligent and classy thing to do. Keep on kissing on, Victoria. Your relationship with your daughter is a beautiful thing.
