Duets have dominated 2013.
From listening to P!nk and fun.’s Nate Ruess’s “Just Give Me A Reason” and Mariah Carey and Miguel’s “#beautiful” to dancing to Pitbull and Christina Aguilera’s “Feel This Moment” and will.i.am and Britney Spears’s “Scream and Shout,” duets have been very important part of our music playlist.
While all four songs have had strong radio play throughout 2013, one odd team up might not make it to Top 40 radio stations across the country.
Snoop Lion and Miley Cyrus recorded “Ashtrays and Heartbreaks” for the Reggae rapper’s twelfth studio album.
Recently, the duo released the music video for their controversial single on Vevo.
The video shows the duo as reflections as the clip cuts through the happenings of a rundown area of an undisclosed town in slow motion.
In addition to some of the several provocative scenes that are showed throughout the “Ashtrays and Heartbreaks” video, Snoop holds a joint throughout a majority of scenes as Miley channels Rihanna in the catchy licks of the song’s chorus.
This is not Miley’s first time collaborating with rappers as she recently worked with will.i.am in recording “Fall Down,” a single off his fourth studio album: #willpower and worked with Timbaland for his 2009 album: Shock Value II.
According to Mashable, when the song hit SoundCloud last month, it attracted 1,000,000 airplays in the first 24 hours alone.
