In a scenario all too familiar for many women, a male passenger repeatedly made Chicago P.D. actress Sophia Bush feel uncomfortable during a flight and didn’t take the hint to disengage. When the man failed to leave her alone, Bush directly asked him to not speak with her, and, still, he persisted. In response to being repeatedly harassed, Bush blasted him in an open letter which she shared on Twitter.

Since the “Random Dude” didn’t see any problems with his creepy behavior, Bush explained why it was problematic. She gave him some solid advice should he find himself in a similar situation later on and, again, fails to identify visual cues.
“When you make a woman so visibly uncomfortable, that after you’ve ignored all visual cues to please leave her alone (one word answers, she actually asks you not to speak to her with the tone and words you’re choosing to use) that she finally GETS UP and MOVES SEATS, leave her alone. Do not continue trying to make conversation. Stop turning around and looking at her. Stop leaning out of your seat and towards her body when she has to grab something out of the overhead bin above her original seat, and sadly also above you, mid-flight,” Bush shared.
Seems easy, right? If a woman doesn’t want to talk to you, she’s not obligated to do so. It doesn’t matter if she’s a celebrity or not.
Respect people’s personal space and stop trying to start up a conversation if they’ve made it clear they’re not interested in talking. Bush’s Twitter followers applauded her for speaking up and some shared their own experiences.
Does anyone else want this printed out on a sticker to hand out to creepy random dudes incapable of taking a hint? I know I do.
