The Immigration Ban is currently a hot topic of conversation, and now stars are matching donations to help fight against Trump’s ban. For those who don’t know (or who have been avoiding the Internet), the ban has done a lot of damage already.
Individuals flying in from specific countries of Muslim descent — even some who had Green cards — were not granted access into the United States. In some cases, they were American citizens that were being threatened by said immigration ban.
So many were outraged and rightfully so. But the ACLU stepped up and took Trump to task on this ban, making sure he wasn’t getting away with it so easily.
And now, celebrities all over the world are offering to donate as much as 100,000 dollars to the American Civil Liberties Union. All they’re asking for is your receipts.
help our queer & immigrant friends. send me your donation receipts for the @aclu & I will match up to $100K https://t.co/P9zVRH0WH0 #RESIST

Sia and Grimes were not the only celebrities to step up against the immigration ban. From Judd Apatow to Jack Antonoff to even Trump’s rival Rosie O’Donnell, everyone seemed to want to donate their money to the ACLU. As they should.

This ban is affecting more than just Muslim citizens. It is a racist, xenophobic ban, and those who support it don’t understand what it is doing. If something like this happened way back when, the majority of us would not be in this country today.
We’re a country founded by immigrants, so why are we letting immigrant become a bad word? Well, these celebrities and so many more are doing their part to make sure that it doesn’t stay a bad word for very long. Follow their lead and donate to the ACLU!
