The End Is Near For Will Smith’s Action Movie Career

Will Smith might not look very old yet, but that doesn’t mean he’ll be able to keep chasing the bad guys forever! In an interview with Digital Spy, he explained that the end of his action movie career is in sight, and that he probably won’t do much more than 2 or 3 action movies before slowing down a little.

In the same interview, he also explained how he came up with the idea of his latest film After Earth (in which he stars together with his son Jaden), namely because of his jealousy for Jackie Chan:

“He (Jaden) was working on Karate Kid, he and Jackie Chan, and I was just watching how much fun they were having,” he explained. “You know, I was jealous, so I was like “aight, that’s it, I’m making a movie, because that’s my son, I’m gonna work with my son.” So we started kicking some ideas around, and After Earth was the first idea that Jaden and I really thought of together.”

When asked about a prank he played on his son, which will also be on the DVD, he added that “He (Jaden) is holding up all of his revenge for like when he’s 18. I think he’s going to do one big thing to get me back for all of the silliness and embarrassment I caused him in his youth.”

After Earth was released on DVD and Blu-ray last week in the US and it will be released on October 14th in the UK.
