The first trailer for Christopher Nolan’s Interstellar has arrived and in true Nolan fashion, he’s got everybody buzzing about the 2014 sci-fi film. Like Inception and The Dark Knight trilogy, he’s got viewers wondering about what exactly they’re going to see on the big screen – it’s all so mysterious and he’s got everyone’s attention.
According to IMDB, the film is about a group of explorers that “make use of a newly discovered wormhole to surpass the limitations on human space travel and conquer the vast distances involved in an interstellar voyage.” When we go over to the official film website, all the info about the Interstellar plot we get is that it is “mainly based on the scientific theories and script treatment of renowned theoretical physicist, Kip Thorne.”
The new trailer offers us clips of some of the world’s biggest events in space travel as Matthew McConaughey’s character Cooper provides us with a voiceover. “We’ve always defined ourselves by the ability to overcome the impossible…”
Then we are given a clip of Cooper driving away and then cuts to two characters looking to the sky. “We’ve barely begun and our greatest accomplishments cannot be behind us because our destiny lies above us.” However, the clips don’t do much in helping us understand the plot and that’s the beauty in it.
Filming for Interstellar is set to wrap up by the end of the month. Anne Hathaway, Jessica Chastain, Casey Affleck and Michael Caine star alongside McConaughey.
