The New Normal’s producer, Ali Adler, has quickly moved onto another project. Fake Empire’s Josh Schwartz and Stephanie Savage will be co-producing the single-camera comedy along with ABC Studios. Adler will be writing the series as opposed to producing, as she did with The New Normal.
The currently untitled series will be about “the silver lining of divorce”. You know, those nights where your former spouse has the children. So you end up drinking your sorrows away and catch up on shows your children can’t watch (Breaking Bad and True Blood).
Despite The New Normal being canceled after one season, this isn’t the only project Adler has lined up. She is teaming up with Ryan Murphy (whom she worked with on The New Normal and Glee) as a consulting producer on the HBO pilot Open.
ABC hasn’t announced when it plans to air the series, nor has it been picked up past the pilot. Only time will tell if we really want to see a show about newly-single people throwing their children at their exes and blow off all responsibilities.
