Thirsty Thursday: The Men Of ‘Once Upon A Time’

In today’s edition of Thirsty Thursday, we bring you the gorgeous men of ABC’s Once Upon A Time.

Fairy tales have never been so pretty since Once Upon A Time began to grace our screens every Sunday night on ABC back in 2011. The show, about a little town in Storybrook Maine which is actually comprised of fairy tale characters cursed to live in our world by the Evil Queen, Regina, has gained a loyal following of Oncers who tune in to escape reality for a little bit of that Disney magic. And since day one, the show has been a non-stop parade of gorgeous men re-imagining classic characters from Rumplestiltskin and Prince Charming to Captain Hook and Robin Hood. Today, we pay tribute to those men.

First up, we have Robert Carlyle as the devious Mr. Gold/Rumplestiltskin. He plays the part of the debonair businessman and the cunning Dark One, whose thirst for power and control knows no bounds with equal parts charm and skin-crawling ferocity. Carlyle is a brilliant actor with the ability to draw you in and make you wish for him to be a hero while at the same time, make you love to hate him. And that soft, lilting accent doesn’t hurt either.

Next is Prince Charming or just “Charming,” as Snow likes to call him.  Played by the adorable Josh Dallas, Charming is definitely the ideal Prince Charming; always on the side of good, committed heart and soul to Snow White and yeah…the boy can wield a sword. The fact that Dallas and co-star Ginnifer Goodwin (Snow White) found love in real life, (the two are married with a child) only solidifies his status as a true Prince Charming.

Oh, Hook…where do I even begin? From the moment you swashbuckled onto my screen, my childhood changed forever. Gone was the long-haired, evil pirate with a maniacal grin and a flouncy shirt; he was replaced by…Killian. Colin O’Donoghue is nothing short of dashing as Killian, the anti-hero whose complicated past combined with a deep love for Emma, show him constantly at odds with his darker urges. He walks the edge of hero and villain brilliantly, proving that life is made up of intricate shades of gray and not simply black and white. Hook is easily one of the most swoon-worthy characters on television today.

And then we have Robin Hood; the sweet-hearted bandit who steals from the rich and gives to the poor… and steals our hearts along the way! Sean Maguire perfectly embodies that sweetness and throws in just the perfect amount of roguish charm. He captures Hood as the stalwart English gentleman, fiercely loyal to those he loves and willing to protect them at any cost. And the love story between Robin and Regina has become one of my favorites of primetime! But If I could be so bold as to make a request…more scenes with him handling a bow and arrow, please.
