Do you ever marvel at the sheer magnitude of ugliness in the world?
In a world saturated with vitriol over politics, feminism, LGBT issues, race issues, mass shootings, sex trafficking, drug overdoses et al; sometimes it’s necessary to step back and remember that there is still good all around us.
Some find that peace in nature, others in art, music and books. Still others find it in gazing upon some of the world’s most beautiful people.
The United Kingdom is, as we speak, counting the votes that will decide whether or not they shall remain a member of the European Union, or EU. The fight is contentious on both sides, with passionate beliefs running the gambit, and citizens voicing their concerns and fears over the results.
Like any election (hey, I’m an American, I FEEL your pain), passions and tempers run high, which results in terrible hate being spewed all over the web.
No matter what the results are tonight, let’s find the silver lining and appreciate the fact that, whether the UK stays or goes, they will still be credited with populating the world with some its most beautiful denizens.
Behold:
Emilia Clark (Game of Thrones)
Daenerys Stormborn, The Unburnt, Queen of the Andals, the Rhoynar, and of the First Men, Queen of Meereen, Khaleesi of the Great Grass Sea, Breaker of Chains, Mother of Dragons– otherwise known as the baddest bad-ass of them all. Our beloved Khaleesi. Seriously, Emilia is exquisite. She is also hilarious. Her Instagram is a global treasure, for real.
Sam Heughan (Outlander)
James Frazer: The sexy Scot and literal hero of our dreams that brought Outlander’s male protagonist to life seamlessly. The actor that portrays Jamie so perfectly just so happens to ALSO be perfect. Seriously. Charming, kind, gorgeous, charitable, likes animals. Far as I can tell, there is nothing wrong with him. Not a single flaw to be found.
Jamie Dornan (Once Upon a Time)
The Huntsman/Sheriff Graham: You may be wondering why I’m going with Jamie’s role in OUaT, rather than Fifty Shades of Grey. Well, that’s because Fifty Shades of Grey was awful, and Dornan was creepy. As the rugged and sensitive Huntsman on OUaT, though, Dornan was irresistible. I choose to picture him like that instead. This cutie from Northern Ireland rocks a beard better than probably anyone in the world. It’s really not fair to all of the other beard enthusiasts.
Ioan Gruffudd [Yo-wahn Griffith] (Forever, Fantastic Four)
I feel like Wales gets a bad rap, though because I’m painfully American, I don’t really understand why; especially considering we have Wales to thank for gifting the world with Ioan Gruffudd. An actor and singer with a velvety voice like angels’ wings and the most perfect face on God’s green earth. He looks as though he was carved from the most precious marble.
Adele
Just, you know, Adele
There is something innately lovable Adele. She is enormously talented, breathtakingly beautiful and, apparently a secret comedic genius.
It’s no fair for someone to be that charming, talented and hilarious and also look like THIS:
Whatever happens tonight, I hope that the United Kingdom will take a moment to appreciate all of the good they’ve contributed to the world. Some of the world’s most beautiful and talented stars hail from the United Kingdom. If you ask me, that’s something to celebrate.
