Well, it’s here. A day Starkid fans thought would never come but it has. The end of an age, a spectacular era. Tonight, Team Starkid premieres its last musical in the Very Potter Musical Series, and I could not be more proud of this group of talented performers. I have spent the better part of today taking a stroll down memory lane with these guys and the tears will not stop trying to come out.

I can still remember the day that I stumbled upon “A Very Potter Musical”. Stumbled is the right word for it because I was not really looking for anything like it as I was trolling on YouTube almost 4 years ago. I was lost in my Harry Potter feels and reliving some of those moments when it was suggested by YouTube that I check out Starkidpotter’s videos. I was skeptical at first because it looked like a parody, which I am not a fan of normally. The second I clicked on that video, I was done. My life was never going to be the same again. After watching AVPM, I watched “Little White Lie” and pretty much sold myself to Team Starkid after those two.

Since AVPM, Starkid has given us many other wonderful musicals to enjoy and even gave us a sequel to AVPM, which I ate up. Time past though and I was left wondering if we would get closure on the Potter musicals. The books and movies already gave me an ending and they had been a part of my life since I was 13. Surely Team Starkid would not leave me hanging in my feels? I waited in hopes for news and then LeakyCon 2012 happened.

I was already devastated that I could not attend in person but then the news broke out that we were getting our ending to the Very Potter Musicals. I cried along with every other Starkid as our wait was not in vain. This wonderful group did not let its fandom down.

For Christmas, we were given a wonderful present as they released the script and soundtrack (which I have worn out and carried in my Nook since). The new year began and once again, I was left wondering if we would ever get to see it, those of us who could not make it to LeakyCon to witness the awesome. My dreams came true and Starkid let us know that we would get to see it come to life and go out with a bang with them.

So here, I am on the night of its premiere, sitting in my feels, eagerly anticipating “A Very Potter Senior Year”. All I can think of right at this moment is that it’s over. It’s so over. I know that Starkid will keep bringing us wonderful productions but this series is one that will always hold a special place in my heart. It gave me Harry Freakin’ Potter when I thought he was gone for good. It took me to Pigfarts and had me questioning what a Hufflepuff was. It taught me was it meant to be “Totally Awesome”.

So from the bottom of my heart, I wanted to say thank you to Starkid for giving this Harry Potter loving girl another place in the world where she could be herself and relive the memories and the fun that both the Harry Potter universe and the Very Potter Musical Series have given us.

I leave with these song lyrics, while they are not Starkid’s, I think they are very fitting for today’s momentous occasion:

Here’s to us

Here’s to love

All the times

That we fucked up

Here’s to you

Fill the glass

Cause the last few days

Have kicked my ass

So lets give em hell

Wish everybody well

Here’s to love

All the times

That we messed up

Here’s to you

Fill the glass

Cause the last few nights

Have kicked my ass

If they give you hell

Tell em to go fuck themselves
