Tom Clancy’s ‘Jack Ryan’ Amazon Prime Series Trailer Talk

John Kransinski takes over the reigns as Tom Clancy’s Jack Ryan. Check out the new Amazon Prime series trailer here!

Attention all Tom Clancy fans and all John Krasinski fans! These two celebrities are combining forces in a new Amazon Prime series, Tom Clancy’s Jack Ryan, and the latest trailer dropped and it looks nothing short of edge-of-your-seat amazing.

John Krasinski takes over as Jack Ryan

While this writer loves him some John Krasinski, last seen as Attorney Auerbach in Detroit (2017), it will be interesting to see him in a much more serious role than usually expected (i.e. The Office (2005-13), It’s Complicated (2009)), but then again Krasinski proved quite a bit of his dramatic and action chops in last year’s Michael Bay thriller, 13 Hours: The Secret Soldiers of Benghazi (2016), and he certainly looks capable here. Maybe that added wit will bring something new to the table and the character that we haven’t seen before.

This will be the fifth actor to play CIA analyst “agent” Jack Ryan in the series of films based off of the Tom Clancy novels, the first being Alec Baldwin opposite Sean Connery in The Hunt For Red October (1990), the second being the iconic Harrison Ford in Patriot Games (1992) and Clear and Present Danger (1994), the third being Ben Affleck opposite Morgan Freeman in The Sum of All Fears (2002), and the fourth being most recently Chris Pine opposite Kevin Costner in Jack Ryan: Shadow Recruit (2014). Despite an overall entertaining and action-packed film, Shadow Recruit did not take off as successfully as expected, so it makes sense to try this obviously recognized and loved character in a different medium and release format altogether: television. Or should we say… online television?

Tom Clancy’s Jack Ryan (2018-) will star John Krasinski (Leatherheads (2008)), Wendell Pierce (The Wire (2002-08)), and Abbie Cornish (Limitless (2011)), and debuts on Amazon Prime Video in 2018; there is no word on the official release date at this time. It will be rated TV-14 with each episode an hour in length.
