Tom Hardy Explains Why Reporter’s ‘Sexuality’ Question Annoyed Him

Tom Hardy recently had an awkward encounter with a reporter, who asked Hardy about his sexuality in a way that visibly annoyed the actor.

Last Sunday (Sept. 13), during a press conference at the Toronto International Film Festival for Tom Hardy’s latest film Legends, a reporter asked the following question to the actor:

“In the film, your character Ronnie is very open about his sexuality but given interviews you’ve done in the past, your own sexuality seems a bit more ambiguous.

Do you find it hard for celebrities to talk to media about their sexuality?”

The movie star was, visibly, none too pleased with this, and what followed was an awkward verbal tussle between the two.

Days later, Hardy has now revealed why that particular query irked him.

In speaking to Entertainment Weekly, Hardy stated , “That really, really annoyed me.”

“It was just the inelegance of being asked in a room full of people… Now I’m happy to have a conversation, a discussion, at a reasonable time about anything. I’m confident in my own sexuality, and I’m also confident in my own being and talking about any issue you want to talk about it. But there is a time and a place for that,” he further explained.

Apparently, it was the manner in which the question was asked and not the question itself that annoyed him, but the actor did make it clear that he felt sorry for the reporter and acknowledged that he did not think there was a malicious intent behind it.
