Tom Hiddleston Adds More Mischief In Thor: The Dark World Reshoots

His army was loud and clear at this year’s Comic Con, and it looks like Marvel took notice. It has been reported that Tom Hiddleston has returned to shoot extra scenes as fan favorite Loki for Thor: The Dark World. This should appease those fans who are upset that The Avengers: Age of Ultron will be missing one God of Mischief when the sequel to the blockbuster hits theaters.

Director Alan Taylor revealed this bit of intel at the D23 Expo held last week. Taylor shared that he has been filming new footage for the upcoming Marvel Studios film.

“We’re doing full scenes… scenes that were not in the movie before,” he told the press. “We’re adding scenes, creating scenes, writing scenes for the first time.”

“It was just we realized how well Loki was working in the movie, and we wanted to do more with him,” Taylor said, echoing what many fans have thought since Hiddleston’s debut as the complicated villain.

So it was that kind of thing, it was like Oh, we could do this, we could jam this in here because he’s such a wonderful guy to watch do his stuff,” Taylor said of the classically trained British actor, who has gained a huge following since the first Thor movie hit theaters two years ago.

Reworking scenes and last minute tinkering is not something new to those in the Marvel film family as Taylor also revealed.

“They will work down to the wire. Kevin Feige’s always trying to make the film better, see if he can push it up. I saw them do this on Iron Man 3, I saw them do it on Avengers; they have to kind of pry it out of Marvel’s hands and put it up on screens because he never wants to stop improving things, so that’s the phase we’re in right now,” Taylor said.

The director also took the time to address and deny the rumors that Marvel was unhappy with the length of his cut, rumors that were first heard at Comic Con last month. “I don’t even know what the running time is,” Taylor said.

Chris Hemsworth, Natalie Portman, Hiddleston, Stellan Skarsgård, Idris Elba, Jaimie Alexander, Kat Dennings, Ray Stevenson, Rene Russo and Sir Anthony Hopkins will all be returning for the new film alongside Doctor Who‘s Ninth Doctor Christopher Eccleston, Lost baddie Adewale Akinnuoye-Agbaje and Chuck star Zachary Levi, who is replacing Josh Dallas due to time commitments.

Thor: The Dark World will hit the cineplex on October 30 in the UK, and make its debut November 8 in the US.
