As we currently await a new episode of the CW’s iZombie, there are many reasons to love our favorite crime fighting zombie gal, Liv Moore. She’s nice despite her current zombie state, and we really can’t wait to see her recover someday. With two seasons in full swing, however, it seems we will have to wait a tad bit longer. Going back to the topic, not only is she one of the greatest characters from the show, Liv has taught us a few lessons that we should try to reflect on more. Here are the top three.

1. Liv Moore = Live More

A common occurrence in iZombie is Liv munching on brains or pieces of it. Although it is her primary food source and the only thing she can taste, eating brains somewhat opens her “third eye”, aka the visions. In turn, these brief changes of perspective allow us, the viewers, to see bits of someone else’s life and it eventually affects our favorite female protagonist.

Some of these changes, both fleeting and permanent, weren’t that great, but there were some that were. With this in mind, how many of you haven’t tried something different? Have you remained in your comfort zone for three years? 10? Almost your whole life? It’s about time for a change. There will be times you end up disliking a new activity, but you only have one life to live. Let’s make the best of it, okay?

2. Unconditional Love

Remember when Liv chose not to donate blood to her then-dying brother? Or how about when she risked her friendship with BFF Peyton in order to protect her? What about when she broke up with her ex fiance/boyfriend Major not once, but twice? She has major love, no pun intended, for those she cares about to the point where she’s willing to make sacrifices that do hurt her. With the world growing colder by the day, her acts of love do show us that love is a force to be reckoned with and that we should try to do the same whether it’s a loved one or with a total stranger.

3. Don’t Judge A Book By Its Cover

Zombies in our world are known as monsters. They have no feelings and won’t hesitate to bite you or anyone because they’re hungry; nothing stands in the way between them and their prey. In iZombie, there have been several appearances of these types of zombies, and naturally, we would be terrified of them.

On the other hand, we love Liv, Lowell (RIP), and maybe Blaine. Yes, they’re zombies, but they’re definitely not monsters. They can’t help but be who they are biologically speaking, and like us regular folk, they’re trying to survive. Post-zombie Liv was a good person, and so is zombie Liv; she is definitely no monster in our book.

She’s the hero her world needs.
