There’s no denying that artists are often more than happy to get up close to their fans, need it be during shows, in public or at meet and greets.
But a recent Tumblr post, which has since been removed, has led to a mini-debate over the interactions that Taylor Swift and Avril Lavigne have had with their fans in the past.
The post consisted of an array of photos of an array of singers with fans. The image of Lavigne showed her with a considerable gap between herself and a fan at a meet and greet on her last tour. The montage of Swift meanwhile displayed Swift got up close and huggy (I want a Swift hug!) with her adoring supporters.
Now you’d think that such a post is nothing new on Tumblr and you’d be right, but what really got fans’ backs up was the fact that Swift went on to like the post (she’s a regular user/liker on the site) and, after a user posted about what she’d done on Twitter, the “Complicated” singer decided to respond.
Comparison is judging and judging a person does not define who they are it defines who you are. We all Love our fans https://t.co/8kTwBhOtu6

Taylor has long since been considered one of the nicest, nope, let me correct that, THE NICEST, woman in music and with good reason (come on, she’s just plain awesome) so it’s unlikely that she liked the Tumblr post for any negative reason. Instead, it’s more probable that she was just interested in what her fans were posting.
What do you think? Do you think Taylor was right to like the post or was Avril’s response better? Comment below and let us know!
