Just in case you didn't know what to put on your holiday wish list, Mattel's UNO card game is getting a sequel. No, not a spinoff, a sequel.
Guess what it's called?
Go ahead, we'll wait.
Give up? It's called DOS! It has all the regular rules of UNO with a few exceptions. According to Comicbook, the game will feature two piles of cards instead of one, which will allow "you to throw down two cards during your turn."
Ray Adler, who heads Mattel Inc's games unit, is "quite happy" with how the game has developed.
As well he should, since it took the company two years.
“We’re happy where we are with Dos right now," Adler said. "It took two years to develop Dos, mainly to make sure playing the game was different enough from Uno. But don’t expect to see Tres anytime soon."
Avid UNO players can expect the sequel game on Target shelves in March. Other stores can expect to receive the game around August of this same year.
2017 saw an 11% decrease in Mattel's revenue. It's only saving grace? UNO. Despite falling sales and two Toys 'R' Us store closures, and more children turning to smartphone and tablet apps for entertainment, UNO game sales "went up 12%." In an effort to keep sales up, Mattel will be branching out, making UNO available in more stores, even dollar stores and app stores.
There is even an UNO app.
Now the real question: do you know the proper way to play a Wild Draw 4 card?
