Valve Teases Three Big Picture Announcements Next Week

NULL

IGN reports that Valve is teasing three announcements regarding its Big Picture feature (a user interface that was released about a year ago that displayed better functionality for gamers using gamepads their television). Indeed, if one were to check Steam’s store link, Valve has a particularly odd page promoting the Big Picture announcements.

While the announcements themselves remain unclear, Valve has provided a bit of insight, and it seems that we the players may be receiving a little influence on the future of Steam and Big Picture: “Soon, we’ll be adding you to our design process, so that you can help us shape the future of Steam.”

But it strikes me as strange that the company would hint at the announcements so extravagantly. For one, what is that large ominous blue orb for? What are those symbols in the three announcement circles doing there? The big question: why so much hype for three announcements?

Half-Life 3 confirmed?

Just kidding.

Seriously though, why the secrecy? Given that Big Picture is designed to allow gamers to play on their television. Valve is in the works for their own console, could it be possible that the Steam Box may be appearing in these announcements to come? I sure hope so. Valve can do no wrong, and I bet that the Steam Box will be no exception.
