‘Hair Live!’ Coming To NBC

NBC has just released their newest addition to their live musical family, Hair!

As lovers of all things musical, we get so excited to see live theater make its way into homes across America every year. Starting with the Sound of Music in 2013, we have since loved watching every musical that has been produced. NBC has also since started a trend, as other networks have caught on. NBC has just released their newest addition to their live musical family, Hair!

Hair is a rock musical set in the 1960’s and follows a “tribe” of long-haired hippies, as they learn about life and fight against the violence of the world around them. The book and lyrics were originally written by Gerome Ragni and James Rado and the music by Galt MacDermot. It first hit the scene Off- Broadway in 1967 and made its way to Broadway shortly thereafter in 1968. Even though all musicals have a shelf life, Hair continues to make its way back into theaters and into our lives. The reason being, Hair continues to be relevant in the world in which we live today, as people are still fighting to have peace in their lives and around the world.

Not much is known about the NBC production except for the fact that it will air in Spring 2019 in front of a live studio audience. Also, we are pleased to hear that Craig Zadan and Neil Meron will continue to be present as the executive producers of this live broadcast! These two have been with NBC since the beginning of live musicals and they continue to knock it out of the park each year! We are already looking forward to seeing which stars or newcomers are going to bring this “tribe” to life. Who would you want to see? Let us know below!
