Recently, The Hollywood Reporter sat down with 20th Century Fox’s president of production, Emma Watts, to talk about Fox’s successful summer, which has included box office hits X-Men, The Fault In Our Stars, and The Other Woman (Dawn of the Planet of the Apes is out mid-July).
On the chances of Bryan Singer returning to direct the next X-Men film, Watts said they are still outlining the film, but would be happy to have him back if his charges are dropped. She also believes the key to avoiding superhero burnout is originality, which, from the sounds of her interview, was a key factor in the development of Days of Future Past and the Fantastic Four reboot.
Speaking of the new Fantastic Four that we will see next year, Watts had a lot of praise for director Josh Trank, saying they had “a really interesting young cast [Michael B. Jordan, Miles Teller, Kate Mara, and Jamie Bell], and he was the magnet that’s brought them together.”
