5 Reasons You Should Watch The Lizzie Borden Chronicles | Lizzie Borden

Are you a fan of suspense, horror, but also have a sense of humor? If you’re on the hunt for the TV show that embodies these three things, I definitely recommend the Lizzie Borden Chronicles. Currently available on Canadian Netflix, the Lizzie Borden Chronicles follows the life of the infamous Lizzie Borden after the case that resulted in her unforgettable reputation.

While in both the show and real life Borden was found innocent of murdering her parents, the TV show shows a history where she really did kill them…and would go on to shed a lot more blood to keep what’s left of her family together. Here are 5 reasons you absolutely have to watch this show.

Christina Ricci is amazing

Love Wednesday Addams? Of course you do—who doesn’t? Well, Christina Ricci continues her tradition of delightfully morbid performances as Lizzie Borden herself, a polite, cheerful woman of society who has no qualms of murdering people who don’t give her what she wants. Lizzie always gets her way, and it’s fun to watch Ricci go through victims with a smile on her face.

There are a wide variety of characters

Actors, doctors, mobsters, axe-murderers—there’s no shortage of interesting characters in this series, and you’re guaranteed to latch on to someone. But maybe don’t get too attached—you never know who will get the axe!

It’s a bloody good time

If you’re a fan of gore and bloodshed, this is definitely the series for you. There are at least two murders per episode, and each one is unique and hilarious in keeping with the dark humor of the TV show.

The costumes are gorgeous

If you’re a sucker for period costumes, this show will not disappoint. The dresses the women wear are absolutely stunning, and the well to do men have a dapper look you won’t want to miss. You’ll be hunting for black dresses of your own after watching this series.

In the end, it’s about family

Emma Borden is the most important person in Lizzie’s life, and while she definitely take some unconventional means to show her love, Lizzie does everything in her power to keep her sister safe from harm and keep their family together. It may involve using her axe a couple of time, but at the end of the day, the show is about two sisters making their way in a very messed up world.
