The wait is over! NYCC is finally here!
This year, more than ever, there are so many new opportunities at NYCC. Having more off-sites and new events gives fans a bigger convention than ever before. Here are our Top 5 suggestions for new things that should immediately be added to your NYCC schedule (we know you made one...).
5. Off-Sites Galore
One of the biggest things that always separated San Diego Comic-Con and New York Comic Con has been the off-sites. While they are usually run by people outside of the convention who want to give con-goers more exclusive opportunities for things, NYCC has made more off-sites official within their convention.
Fans will have a chance to explore both Hammerstein Ballroom (which was added last year) and, now, The Theatre at Madison Square Garden for more panels -- allowing much more seating than the Main Stage at the Javits Convention Center.
4. BookCon @ NYCC
BookCon has become it's own huge event within the past couple of years, but, now, it's going to be a part of New York Comic Con! BookCon came back to New York City in May after being in Chicago last year, but it's returning once more for NYCC attendees. BookCon will give book lovers an even bigger chance to see their favorite authors and publishers. Previously, publishers had a small piece of the show floors, but now they have their own place to celebrate their new work and still be part of the NYCC fun, too!
3. Don't Be Afraid Of The Main Stage
One of the hardest parts of the Main Stage process in recent years was the wristband process. There was a lot of frustration from fans after waiting in line for hours only to be told that all wristbands for a specific panel was gone, which prevented some attendees from trying to get in at all. Now, fans will have the chance to be able to tap-in to save their seat for the Main Stage and then come back later right before their panel starts. Not only will tapping make the process more fair, but this will also make sure that all seats will be filled.
2. NYCC XP
Sometimes, explaining everything that happened to your family, friends, and online audiences can be difficult, but NYCC XP is making that a whole lot easier! By simply tapping your badge at exhibitors, panels, and other key places, a website with all you've done throughout the weekend will be created exclusively for you. Pictures taken at photo booths will be uploaded, as well, giving you something to show and send to your friends and family to brag all about your fabulous weekend.
1. Stan Lee's Farewell to NYCC
When it was announced that it was Stan Lee's last year at NYCC, many fans were saddened to hear that it would be the last time they would be able to meet the legend himself within the Javits Center. For fans, this means that NYCC will certainly be celebrating the life and career that Stan Lee has made for himself. Plus, he will be attending all four days, giving fans plenty of chances to see him one last time before he says goodbye to NYCC for good.
