Culture Club has been confirmed by Boy George to be making a return.
Boy George, who recently released his first album, This is What I Do, in 8 years on October 28, confirmed the band would be reuniting for a new song. This will be the first time they will be recording together in 15 years.
George told The Mirror in an interview that he was finally ready for a reunion, and this would be something new.
“It will be a completely new record. There’s no point doing it just for nostalgia.”
But this is the first time George has been asked and thought about a reunion. Other members of the band had approached Boy George several times over the years to discuss getting back together as a group.
“I talked a few years ago about a Culture Club reunion – they wanted me to do it for years but it wasn’t right and obviously for five or ten years I was going through other things,” he said.
The 52-year-old singer also revealed Nile Rodgers is in talks to produce the new album. However, George also said he would like to work with David Bowie or Brian Eno.
George also stated that Jon Moss, another member of Culture Club, was surprised by George’s decision to finally reunite with the band, but said he wanted to make this album for himself.
