If reports are to be believed the star of Contraband may be the one to portray the disgraced cyclist in an upcoming biopic.

E! News confirms that Foster is in final talks to play Armstrong in the still unnamed project, produced by Tim Bevan and Eric Fellner, and directed by Stephen Frears. With a script written by John Hodge, the film will follow Armstrong’s life from his battle with cancer to his recent fall from grace after admitting to have used performance-enhancing drugs.

Foster’s most famous film credits include 3:10 to Yuma, X-Men: The Last Stand, Pandorum, and Fernando Meirelles’ 360.  He also appears in two upcoming films premiered at Sundance: Ain’t Them Bodies and Kill Your Darlings. In addition to this, he recently made his Broadway debut opposite Alec Baldwin in The Orphans, replacing Shia LaBeouf in the lead role.

This project is one of, up to now, three upcoming biopics based on Armstrong’s life.  J.J Abrams is set to produce the Paramount Pictures biopic based on Juliet Macur’s book Cycle of Lies: The Fall of Lance Armstrong, while Warner Bros. also has a project in the works.
