A new clip from Ron Howard’s latest film Rush has premiered on Digital Spy.
The clip features the two leading men sparring at a press conference as they compete to become the next world champion race-car driver. Chris Hemsworth and Daniel Brül play the main characters in the movie, which tells the story of rivals James Hunt and Niki Lauda who fought on and off the Formula One track in the ‘70’s.
Ron Howard spoke about the film on the TV show Lorraine recently, saying, ”It’s about the remarkable rivalry between James Hunt and Niki Lauda, there is lots of drama. As a director, it’s a chance to do something that is not only human-with all the emotion, humour, surprises that go along with that-but also really, really demands to be seen on the big screen because it’s Formula 1. It is visceral and intense, with all the sounds. I hope people find it to be a real remarkable experience when they see it at the cinema.”
The director added, “What people didn’t know at the time was all the drama that was going on in their lives at the time. I tried to link those two things together, so it’s not just about the racing. The two things are always linked in this movie.”
Olivia Wilde, Alexandra Maria Lara and Natalie Dormer are in the supporting cast of Rush, which will hold its world premiere in London tonight, and will debut in the UK on Sept. 13 and Sept. 27 in the US.
