A Young Doctor’s Notebook To Get A Second Installment?

Rumor has it Sky Arts is planning on introducing a second installment of Playhouse Presents A Young Doctor’s Notebook. The black comedy starred Mad Men’s Jon Hamm and Harry Potter himself, Daniel Radcliffe. The first installment got the attention of over 800,000 viewers, making it one of the most successful series the network has ever done.

The show is based on the book A Country Doctor’s Notebook written by Mikhail Bulgakov. The book is comprised of 9 short stories based on Bulgakov’s own experiences as a young Doctor in Russia. Hamm portrayed the older doctor while Radcliffe took on the role of the young novice. The first series was shot during a during a 20 day break in Hamm’s grueling schedule. However, the second installment is having difficulty coming to fruition due to the stars hectic schedules.

That being said, Sky has not formally announced the all clear for the second series. Kenton Allen, CEO of Big Talk Productions (who produced the show), commented ”We are developing scripts for a second series in the hope we can find a time when Jon and Daniel are available to shoot later this year.” Here’s to hoping that series two is a go!
