Abby Lee Miller Of Dance Moms Sued By Student For Assault

Tensions rise as 13 year old Page Hyland files a complaint on Dance Mom’s Abby Lee Miller for alleging assaulting her.

According to documents obtained by People, a complaint was filed on Thursday (Oct. 9) in a Los Angeles Superior Court, by Paige Hyland, 13. She is alleging that Lifetime’s Dance Moms Abby Lee Miller, who runs the Abby Lee Dance Co., “intentionally engaged in conduct that caused Plaintiff Paige Hyland to reasonably believe that she was about to be touched or harmed in an offensive manner.”

Hyland also claims that she now suffers from panic attacks and anxiety since working on the Lifetime show. In her lawsuit, she alleges that she suffered emotional abuse and feared Miller would hurt her, citing Miller’s violent outbursts that included tossing a chair across a room in a fit of anger.

“Paige Hyland reasonably feared she would be physically injured because she had observed Miller physically batter other people on the show including physically pushing [mother] Kelly Hyland’s face, pinching another student until she bled and violently grabbing another student by the arm,” the lawsuit continued.

Hyland, who is under contract with the show, which has completed its fourth season, along with her mother Kelly and sister Brooke, also says in her petition that she has been undergoing treatment for the alleged mental abuse.

Deadline.com has reported that the Hylands filed a $5 million complaint against Miller and producers Collins Street Entertainment in February after a November 22, 2013, incident between Miller and Kelly Hyland over the “bullying and insulting” way the dance instructor was treating Paige and Brooke on the reality show. With the younger Hylands looking on, the two women screamed at each other with Miller lunging forward and Hyland slapping her. The incident was shown on the long-running series earlier this year.
