Good Morning America (GMA) continues to dominate in the ratings war!
The ABC morning newscast has officially pulled away from its archrival the Today Show as it averaged 5,700,000 viewers per day last month. According to the Hollywood Gossip, GMA’s statistics gained a 10-percent increase from last year’s May Sweeps.
But GMA is not the only morning newscast to experience growth…
Longtime third place finisher CBS This Morning is growing in viewership as well. The Charlie Rose-Gayle King-Norah O’Donnell-anchored newscast is closing in on the ailing NBC newscast, as it’s daily viewership climbed above the 3,000,000 viewer mark since its 2012 relaunch.
As both GMA and CBS This Morning are celebrating their respective growths, it is a different story at Studio 1A in Rockefeller Plaza.
The constantly plagued Today Show continued its drop in ratings to 4,780,000 viewers.
The once-omnipotent morning show has been plagued with problems including the mishandling of beloved fan-favorite Ann Curry, the release of Brian Stelter’s controversial expose Top of the World: Inside the Cutthroat World of Morning TV and Matt Lauer’s degrading reputation.
In addition, viewers continue to leave in droves due to the crumbling of the Today Show family and the revelation that the Today Show family was nothing more than a myth.
If Today continues to lose viewership, will television fans finally see CBS get the second place? America should turn in to find out!
