Ada Morghe, AKA Alexandra Helmig is, by anyone’s standards, a woman of many, many talents. She’s an actress, children’s author, and a scriptwriter in her professional life, and she juggles those gifts with being a friend, partner and mother in her personal. The fact that she certainly can’t be given a particular label, or put in a particular box – as no-one should ever be – also goes someway to explaining why she chose to name her new, personal and soulful sophomore album, which is out now, exactly that – ‘Box’
The lead or ‘highlight’ single on the album of the same name, which PopWrapped are delighted to premiere the video for, was written with Andrew Roachford, who some might remember had hits in the 80’s including “Family Man” and “Cuddly Toy” and it seems the pair formed an all but perfect partnership when it came to creating the track.
“He related to the idea in the song,” Ada explains. “We both had the same question: in your professional life, do you need to have that identity for people to rely on? It got us talking about all aspects of life and being put into a box. We can often judge and make assumptions based on first impressions: by the way people look or the roles they play personally and professionally, but everyone can have several identities. Only by talking and learning from others can we find this out.”
Roachford himself says of the collaboration: “Writing with Ada was a unique experience and I’m happy that we managed to capture Ada’s strong individuality when we wrote this song Box.”
