What do you get when you have a bunch of talented no-names competing for the attention of at least one member of a group full of superstars? Why, you get The Voice, of course!
One of those superstars is coach and Maroon 5 frontman, Adam Levine. Levine, while speaking with Today, admitted that he believes that the coaches on The Voice definitely outshine the contestants.
Levine, whose co-coaches include Christina Aguilera, CeeLo Green and Blake Shelton, said that, “Because our profiles are higher obviously than people who are competing on the show, naturally we’re going to overshadow it a little bit.”
Levine also touched on the fact that, despite having completed four successful seasons of The Voice, a big star has yet to have been discovered through the competition show; while shows like American Idol and The X-Factor have yielded such successes as Kelly Clarkson, Carrie Underwood, Leona Lewis and One Direction.
“Has someone become a massive superstar yet? No,” Levine explained “But people are always better off after they’ve had their experience on the show, so as far as I’m concerned it’s a victory for anybody who gets to have this type of exposure. So it’s a win-win I think.”
I know that, for me, the coaches’ banter is undoubtedly my favorite part of the show. Listening to Adam and Blake go back and forth with their bromance is truly a thing of beauty. But they do tend to take the spotlight off of these amazingly talented artists they have been presented with. I wonder what you think, Readers. Do you agree with this sentiment? If so, what could be done to change it?
