After a long wait, the world was finally treated to a new single off a new album by singer-songwriter Adele. It was accompanied by a beautiful black and white music video, also her first since 2011.
But while the new single was met with much enthusiasm, Adele has revealed that, at first, she actually though her comeback song 'Hello' had somehow flopped!
In an interview with Nick Grimshaw on Breakfast on BBC Radio 1, the singer spoke about her anxiety when the single was teased as a clip on last Sunday's episode of The X-Factor UK.
She told Grimshaw:
I full on started panicking when I woke up on Sunday. I don't remember how it felt. It went quiet in my house. I thought everyone would think it was a John Lewis advert [...] Then I went on Twitter. I've lost my password, so I looked on my browser, and I could only see three tweets, so I thought -- that's it, I've missed my window. Then my boyfriend said there's loads.
Of course, it can't be easy to do a follow up to an album as successful as 21, so the singer thought that it might be better not to dwell on it:
I want to surprise people. I've had nothing to say so why am I going to say anything. Every album is always going to follow 21, so I can't include it in any expectations of anything I do again.' she told Grimshaw.
Adele's latest album 25 will be released on the 20th of November, but you can watch the video for 'Hello' right now.
