Discovering new music can be tough, but thanks to Spotify and its New Release section, you've obtained the keys to the new music kingdom! Meet one of the sirens: Jasmine Thompson, she just released her first single, "Adore," on Atlantic Records.
After listening to "Adore," it's hard to believe that the pure delicately smooth vocals belong to a 14-year-old. Age aside, this song is phenomenally different from anything else that's currently playing on the radio. The soft yet upbeat tracking pairs together perfectly with the vocals, grabs our attention, and leaves us wanting more. More importantly, it leaves us wondering - who is Jasmine Thompson?
London native Jasmine Thompson began her singing career when she was only 10 years old. By starting a YouTube Channel, she was able showcase her talent, develop a fan base and catch the attention of various folks in the music industry including BBC Radio 1 and Perez Hilton. As her popularity grew, Thompson began releasing original content. In 2013, she released her EP, "Under The Willow Tree," but she was just getting started.
Thompson teamed up with Felix Jaehn, known for his remix of OMI's "Cheerleader," to release a remix of "Ain't Nobody." Thompson's cover stripped the song down to the bare necessities, but Jaehn took it a step further and added a series of pop piano chords. The YouTube video boasts over 20 million plays, and with numbers like these, we're excited to keep an eye on Jasmine to see what she does next.
