Hunger Games fans rejoice, tickets for The Hunger Games: Catching Fire will go on sale October 1st, at 12p.m. ET/9a.m. PT, through the usual sites like Fandango and MovieTickets.com
Catching Fire is the second in the series of films, based on the bestselling book trilogy The Hunger Games. In the film Katniss Everdeen (Jennifer Lawrence) thinks she is safe in her home, District 12, after winning the 74th annual Hunger Games with fellow tribute Peeta Mellark (Josh Hutcherson). But when the pair must return to the limelight for the Annual Victor’s Tour, Katniss finds out that just because she won the Games, she still is under the control of the Capital and its leader, President Snow (Donald Sutherland).
The tickets are going on sale 12 weeks before the film is released, probably due to the fact that the first film in the series broke records in advanced ticket sales, a record formally held by the Twilight Saga.
As well as the announcement about ticket sales, Lionsgate also announced the start of their 12-week #TickTock countdown. This means that each week between now and the theatrical release of Catching Fire, the studio will make one reveal or announcement.
The Hunger Games: Catching Fire stars Jennifer Lawrence, Josh Hutcherson, Liam Hemsworth, Woody Harrelson, Elizabeth Banks, Lenny Kravitz, Philip Seymour Hoffman, Jeffrey Wright, Sam Clafin, Jena Malone, Stanley Tucci and Donald Sutherland while Francis Lawrence (Water for Elephants) will direct the film, taking over from Gary Ross, who directed the first instalment.
The Hunger Games: Catching Fire is released in theatres on November 22nd, 2013.
