When Lady Gaga took to twitter releasing a promotional video for the upcoming American Horror Story: Hotel, fans went berserk!

On the heels of an engagement to beau Taylor Kinney, showing her uncanny vocal range during the Oscars, and winning her 6th Grammy, Lady Gaga’s next great venture is to conquer television screens for the upcoming horror anthology series.

AHS has a history of providing us with strong female leads throughout every season, and with Jessica Lange’s rumored departure, fans wondered what creator Ryan Murphy had up his sleeve.

According to EW, this TV blessing has been in development since last Fall, with a specified role just for Gaga. Murphy wanted to ensure this role would be perfect for the singer, and even hid Gaga’s interest from FX to keep it as secretive as possible.During last season of American Horror Story: Freak Show, Murphy alluded to hints about the fifth season, saying the top hat was the biggest tease in the series.

EW now additionally confirms that the top hat was in reference to the movie Top Hat, which was based in a hotel. Lady Gaga and Tony Bennett’s recent jazz album is titled after the song Cheek to Cheek, which was featured in the 1935 film.

The fact that so much thought went into Gaga’s AHS role only makes me giddier for the upcoming series! Very sneaky indeed Ryan Murphy!
