Al Pacino’s Broadway Return Delayed For Two Weeks

Al Pacino won’t be starring in ‘China Doll’ as soon as we all thought. His play has been delayed for two weeks, opening in early December.

The new David Mamet play, China Doll, starring Al Pacino was set to open on November 19th but will now begin official performances on December 4th.  This news dropped just weeks after rumors floated around the Internet that Al Pacino was having trouble with his lines and needed a Bluetooth and a teleprompter. Even with the  negativity surrounding Pacino’s performance, the show has, reportedly, already grossed more than $1 million dollars.

The play switched from a Thursday opening to a Friday, which means official reviews won’t start until Sunday. This switch suggests to Broadway insiders that this play isn’t very good.

I hold out hope and have a hard time believing what they are saying about Pacino.  Based upon his recent film appearances, he has seemed very much on his game, but we won’t know anything until the show goes from previews to the official run, which will only last until January 31st.

What do you think? Is the delay because they want to perfect some things, or is it because our beloved Al Pacino is having serious troubles with the material?

Sound off in the comments, especially if you might have seen a preview of the show.
