Al Pacino Tracks Down A Serial Killer With Karl Urban In New Movie ‘Hangman’

Currently available only to rent across the digital platforms, Al Pacino’s new movie ‘Hangman’ is an intriguing ride.

Currently available only to rent across the digital platforms, Al Pacino’s new movie Hangman is an intriguing ride. Karl Urban and Brittany Snow star alongside the veteran actor as they pursue a serial killer who is using the children’s game hangman to give the clues as to their next victim. So far, this film has received mediocre reviews at best, the film is anything but mediocre.

Al Pacino stars as retired Detective Archer who is summoned by his old partner, Detecitve Ruiney played by Karl Urban (Star Trek) when he needs a second set of eyes.  Brittany Snow joins the duo as a reporter named Christi Davies who is following Ruiney to write a piece on real police work. The film doesn’t stray too far away from the stereotypical cop drama, but it’s very good. The film is set in Monroe, LA which explains to some reviewers why Pacino is using a southern accent. The movie opens with Detective Archer getting sideswiped by a van and taking down the driver and then heads over to Ruiney meeting Davies before they show us the first victim.

This movie is nothing special in terms of redefining the thriller genre, but it does everything right. We get a good story with a mystery to keep us wondering if the killer will reveal all the letters before he gets caught, and great acting from Pacino, Urban and Snow to keep us invested. This may not be a movie that will shatter your thoughts on the film world but it will entertain you and give you a good time. Watch it on a Saturday night but make sure you choose the right film because there is another film by the same title that is terrifying. Have you seen Hangman?
