Alexa Meade Has Us Seeing Living Color

Alexa Meade paints on people, turning them into living 2D art! If you have not heard of or seen this woman’s art, you’re missing out!

Art is amazing in all its forms: photography, poetry, prose, movies, television, and, of course, painting! Alexa Meade is one such amazing artist, using her love of art and fresh perspective to show a new side to the canvas.

Meade paints directly on her human subjects, making them 2D models in a 3D world. Known as “live installations,” they have gone on exhibit with her photo prints at the Saatchi Gallery in London, the Smithsonian’s National Portrait Gallery in DC, the Ivo Kamm Gallerie in Switzerland, and the Ingo Seufert Gallery for Contemporary Photography in Germany.

Talk about a globetrotter!

According to Meade’s website, she is “famous for inventing a technique that optically transforms the 3-dimensional world into a 2-dimensional painting.”

She even got to paint Gotye!

Meade’s work caught the eye of Jon Boogz, becoming the central medium for his short film Color of Reality. Combined with choreographed performances by Jon Boogz and Lil Buck, the movie serves as a “powerful protest to the gun violence haunting American society today.”

But what exactly does a person look like when painted into a 2D model? We’re glad you asked!
