Ladies and gents, mark you calendars!  Discovery Channels Deadliest Catch will be coming back for its highly anticipated 10th season on April 22 at 9 PM E/P.

There are  three things that will be chronicled the most in the first episode.  First is the beautiful Mandy Hansen, Captain Sig Hansen’s daughter (F/V Northwestern); the return of the F/V Cornelia Marie with Captain Josh Harris; and the political fishing issues that were going on at the beginning of the Opilio crab fishing season.

Women usually do not go out onto crab boats.  Throughout the entire ten seasons of DC, I only remember one other female being on any ship.  To have another female out there on one of the crab boats is going to be great. Since Mandy is going to be on the water, she knows the odds are against her because she has a lot to prove.  I cant wait to see her in action on the F/V Northwestern. If she is going to be a deckhand on her father’s boat, she knows that she will be under intense scrutiny.  Not only from the viewers, her Captain father, or her uncle (deckboss Edgar Hansen), but also the other deckhands.  “Sig’s daughter, Mandy, she’s a little workhorse, she loves it. She loves the boat. Who knows where this will go?”  Im pretty certain she gets her uncle’s blessing for being on the boat.

Captain Josh Harris of the Cornelia Marie finally makes his grand entrance into the Captain’s chair.  He has taken over what used to be his father’s position (the tragically departed Captain Phil Harris; may he rest in peace).  This is going to be amazing for the F/V Cornelia Marie’s fans.  It is going to be great to see the blue ship out there once more on the Bering Sea.

Of course the political issues for the Bering Sea crabbers has now dwindled.  At the beginning of the 2013 Opilio crab fishing season, all boats were ordered to be docked because they were unable to do any fishing.  Captain Keith Colburn of the F/V Wizard ended up going to the Senate and spoke on behalf of the Bering Sea fishermen.

I am just putting this out there, but I hope that Jake Anderson makes his way back to the F/V Northwestern.

You can catch up with the Deadliest Catch season 9 recap episode on April 15 on the Discovery Channel.
