Alyssa Bonagura Presents Her “Last Night In December” Video

“…I decided to take some of my favorite memories from a trip to Hawaii and create a highlight reel that I thought would evoke the emotion of the song…”

Singer-songwriter, multi-instrumentalist, producer, Alyssa Bonagura, all but lives and breathes music, and her passion for it shines through on every track she shares with the world, including new single “Last Night In December,” the video for which PopWrapped are delighted to premiere.

The song was co-written with hit songwriters Sam Ellis and Jon Nite, and is one of four Alyssa co-produced with friend and former label mate Tom Jordan of the band Seaforth. She first performed the track acoustically on Instagram Live during the pandemic, and seeing how popular it proved to be with her fans, chose to officially release it at the end of last year.

Alyssa shares that “Last Night In December” was: written about a Year’s Eve I never wanted to forget. Memories can be so vivid that they keep playing back like a movie in your mind, and looking back on those memories can be bittersweet sometimes.”

She adds that the video:was inspired by my childhood best friend, director and editor, Roman Dent, who recently passed away in 2021. Through this devastating time, I have been going through photos & videos of him, wanting to remember him & trying to understand how someone so amazing & so young could be gone. When I was going through my hard drive, I found this video & took it as a sign to finish it & release it. Life is precious. Time is precious. We never know how long we’re going to get. & instead of being afraid of failure, I’d rather be afraid of never taking the chance to put my music & art out there. Now this song has a new meaning to me. Originally about a breakup that I went through and wanting to remember only the good parts, it now takes on a new meaning of loss to me & helps me remember the good memories of my friend. If you’ve lost someone close to you, hold on to those memories. Find the good to remember them by & hold those memories close to your heart. Roman, this is for you. Thank you for always helping me believe in myself & create my art. Thank you for helping me finish this video & pushing me to release this song.
