One month after the release of her groundbreaking EP “alive”, indie starlet Alyssa Joseph releases a jaw-dropping lyric video to accompany her title track. The production of the lyric video could not be more close to home as the lyrics are actually Alyssa’s own handwriting and the scenes were shot in her own backyard. It is once again edited by videographer Max Sternlict, who previously had edited a lyric video created entirely out of breakfast foods for Alyssa Joseph’s song “easier”.
The video reflects the inspiration of the song, as Joseph describes how she stares at the night sky and realizes how minuscule her problems are compared to the magnitude of the universe. It uses macro-to-micro juxtaposition, comparing the universe to a small flower to show how everything is connected. With this mesmerizing video, Alyssa Joseph’s heartfelt ballad “alive” is brought back to life.
Alyssa Joseph’s “alive” EP showcased her true vulnerable side, taking us on a rollercoaster of a journey and capturing the insecurities and angst that many millennials face, and the title song is the closer that ties everything together. The track takes on full-blown existentialism as Joseph gazes up at the stars and realizes she has no idea what her purpose on this earth is, but maybe that’s okay. “I realized that adults don’t know what they’re doing most of the time,” Joseph says. “We’re all just flying by the seat of our pants.”
