Netflix has proven than online streaming and instant video is where it’s at, with successful original series such as House of Cards and Orange Is the New Black. Now Amazon Studios is following suit. Back in May, Amazon Studios announced that it would pick up five original series to air on Prime Instant Video. With feedback from viewers, Amazon was able to choose from a total of 14 pilots. Three of the series ordered were shows that targeted the younger audience – Creative Galaxy, Annebots and Tumbleaf. The other two series Amazon decided to go with were comedies Alpha House and Betas. 11 episodes were picked up for both series and now we have official premiere dates! Alpha House is set to premiere on November 15. The series follows four misfit senators as they rent a house together in Washington DC. Written by Garry Trudeau and produced by Elliot Webb and Jonathan Alter, the political comedy stars John Goodman, Clark Johnson, Matt Malloy and Mark Consuelos. Betas is set to debut one week after Alpha House on November 22. It takes us to the west coast and follows a group of friends trying to make the next big thing in mobile social networking. The series produced by Michael Lehmann stars Joe Dinicol, Karan Soni, Jon Daly, Charlie Saxton, and Maya Erskine. “This is only the beginning for our young social media players and we are excited to push them out in the big world to see if they sink or swim,” Michael London, who also produces the show, said of the series. The first three episodes of both series will be available for free to all Amazon customers, but the rest of the episodes will be available weekly on Amazon Prime.
